This is Herona's lab technician Winnie with the HIV test kits supplied free by the ministry of health. All HIV testing is now free to everyone. We are very grateful to the district HIV focal person for making this possible. Herona staff continuously encourage people to be tested.
Herona hospital are very happy to be collaborating with Lancet Laboratories, one of the best laboratory companies in eastern and central Africa. This will add to the tests already carried at the Herona lab and give them an even wider range of examinations to offer to their patients.
Thank you to everyone who has either made or donated items and those who have helped with shipping costs for Ebenezer children’s home and Herona Hospital. We have recently sent over 80 bed sheets, hand knitted blankets for children and adults, hand knitted baby jumpers, children’s clothes and baby clothes, wheelchairs, walking frames and crutches. Our aim is to send all the babies from Herona Hospital home with some clothes. There is a lot of hospital equipment that is needed
This is Peter, dental health officer at Herona, he has a diploma in dental health. This is the first dentist in the area, whilst he can carry out many procedures we are still in need of more dental equipment.
A well stocked pharmacy is rare in rural Uganda. It is extremely costly as medicine is very expensive. Garvin knows the importance of the pharmacy and keeping it well stocked. It is not easy but its a high priority. Here you can see the staff stock taking
