

Free vaccines today
A busy day at Herona, every month Herona offer free vaccinations for babies and children including; Polio, measles, diphtheria, hepatitis B, pneumoccal pneumonia, rota virus diarrhoea, TB, whooping cough, tetanus, haemophilus influenzae B and cervical cancer vaccinations for girls between 9 and 12 yrs.


A successful official opening
Saturday 17th February was the official opening of Herona Hospital Limited.

Equipment from the UK
The first donated wheelchair arrived at Herona last week and was immediately put to good use, crutches, walking sticks and baby clothes also arrived. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped send all the equipment.


First day of dental camp
Today was the first day of dental camp. 3 dental hygienists from the UK, Mandy. Carole and Carolyn along with Herona dentist Peter started their visits to local schools with their new progam to promote dental hygiene. They talked to 50 -60 children from Primary 5 and Primary 6. They begun with an introduction about teeth and went on to screen every child. After they were taught how to clean their teeth and everyone in the school received a toothbrush. Massey Ferguson generator
Power cuts happen regularly in Kisoga and can go on for a long time. At a hospital it can be fatal, in the middle of a C-section, the power goes, no oxygen, no monitor, no lights. Thanks to SR Gemma Omddii of Mantellate Sisters of Servants of Mary who connected Herona to a friend in Rome, Herona Hospital last night got a generator.
